W.E.D.E.S.I.G.N a Design Thinking Approach

W.E.D.E.S.I.G.N a Design Thinking Approach

W.E.D.E.S.I.G.N in the Idea Garage

(More in the next few weeks!)

I am prepping for my first workshop on Design Thinking.  I thought I would let you folks have a sneak peek!  As always, posts are under construction….  I am working on an online course so folks can use it with your communities and students. Stay tuned!

  • Human centred model to solve authentic wicked messy problems in a non-linear mindset.

  • All verb based non-linear ways of knowing and problem solving.

  •  Shifting mindset from “I know x” to “I am knowing x”

  • developing sense of place in the world and inclusive of World Views

  • Wisdom and big picture thinking

  • Physical aspects with hands on and ‘walking in someone’s shoes’

  • Working with a community to create, prototypes and find consensus.

  • explicit  reflection: we know that student transformations in learning can only happen when students feel personally connected to the topic or people.

  • systems thinking model that recognizes we are part of nature, systems, and change. There is a lifecycle to an idea development and solution.

  • I wanted a “garage” approach of a growth mindset where things are taken apart, reexamined, remixed and rebuilt.  We all know mistakes happens and things just get fixed or made better.

  • The gear also reflects seats and snow blocks

  • Inclusive of Aboriginal ways of knowing without making it explicit.  It is a good bridge between worlds.
